Wow congratulations on the good news! I will follow the developments via the blog with great interest so that I will know when we should plan our next vacation to the cape... ;)
Good luck with all this and please leave some sand for Emile to play with! Julie
This is fantastic. Looking forward to spending time with you both again soon. I'll even load on some sandbags. After all, this will be the new home of ASC :-) Just hope it's not too 'hectic' for you.
Excellent project management and publicity skills..we're very impressed. Nice to have an arm chair view of a house building project. Much less stressful than our own, very protracted building works...and much more environmentally friendly as well!
Looks great! Lots of success with the further construction and plans. It seems to be very cold up there now, so.. any need for some Dutch hot chocolate during work?
gefeliciteerd! eindelijk beginnen ik kan niet wachten op het volgende plaatje en berichten hoop in november al veel te kunnen zien! veel succes! groetjes ma jeannet.
Our sandbag house faces the Indian Ocean in the heart of the Garden Route, located conveniently between George and Knysna. Kleinkranz is a small village, popular with local fishermen and for paragliding.
The house comfortably sleeps 6 people (2 double and one twin room). There are 3 attached bathrooms, a very spacious and well equipped kitchen with an island, an indoor braai (bbq) and a living room that overlooks the sea.
The closest beach is 2 minutes from the house, ideal for walking, fishing and running. Whales and dolphins can be viewed from the house, especially between June and December
Cape Footprints is available for holiday lettings. Email Dolar Vasani at dvasani60@gmail.com for more information on availability and rates.
An overview of the Garden Route
The Garden Route stretches over 200kms from Mossel Bay to Storms River. The name comes from the fynbos (fine bush) shrubbery near the coast. It enjoys a maritime climate, with moderately hot summers, and mild to chilly winters.
Sandwiched between the Outeniqua and Tsitsikamma mountains and the Indian Ocean, the area offers ample hiking opportunities. Nearly 300 species of birdlife are to be found and there are 10 nature reserves. The various bays along the Garden Route are nurseries to the endangered Southern Right Whale which come from the Antarctic to calve from July to December.
Although very convenient to explore by car, it is also the site of Africa's last remaining passenger steam train, the Outeniqua Choo Tjoe. The area has unique food and craft markets, very good restaurants and is home to over 15 golf courses including the prestigious Pinnacle Point, Fancourt, Pezula and George.
